Hi, I’m Kelly Brown
In 2013 I left my job at Google to become a Coach.
This wasn’t a popular or easy decision at the time and felt like breaking up with a movie star. “Are you sure?! But he’s rich and handsome!”
At first, I wasn’t sure. As a first-generation college graduate, with degrees from Duke University, in Psychology, Business, and Spanish, I wondered if I was changing course too quickly and dismissing my hard work. I’d had a series of exciting corporate jobs that anyone would be grateful to land both in my role as an Account Executive at Google and prior at Duke Corporate Education. I had many opportunities for growth and travel and I loved my team. From the outside, it seemed I should’ve been happy.
But on the inside, I was out of touch with my purpose and knew there was something else in store for me. I was unable to sleep and worked so many hours that I didn’t want to spend time with friends or family. I also felt ashamed that I didn’t want to be doing what I was doing. “What is wrong with me?” I wondered.
After a chance encounter led me to explore Coaching as a career path, I left Google and became a certified Well-Being Coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
I built my first company, Real Food House, a coaching and group facilitation practice, on the belief that well-being includes all dimensions of life, and later became a certified Be Body Positive Facilitator to focus on a broad, inclusive, and science-based approach to wellness free from restrictions and rules.
In doing this work, I realized that living your purpose and pursuing a career that aligns with that purpose, is central to well-being (and often central to living a joyful and rewarding life), and received additional training as an Executive Coach through the Berkeley Executive Coaching Institute. I also have a coaching credential from the International Coaching Federation and commit to the highest training and standards.
Now I help parents, entrepreneurs, and professionals find their purpose, get unstuck, and gain clarity in life, career, and well-being. I do so both in private practice and in partnership as a Faculty Coach with University of California, Berkeley and a Career Coach with Parentaly.
I can‘t wait to talk to you. When you’re ready, book a consult call.
All sessions are virtual so although I’m living in the Raleigh, NC area, with my husband our three kids, and our dog, you can be anywhere in the world.
